Will

Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee
Written: 16 Apr 1814
I Ann Hay of the County of Davidson and State of Tennessee do hereby make my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say
First, I desire that out of the perishable part of my estate, after my decease, all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
2dly, after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, I give to my Son James Campbell his Executors and Administrators a young Double Head Stud Colt three or four years old, his choice of one of my beds furniture belonging to it, also thirty head of sheep and three hundred dollars in cash.
3dly, I give to my Son Edward W Hay who is now abroad , three lots in the Town of Nashville, known in the plan of said Town by Number One Hundred & Fourteen, one hundfred & fifteen and one hundred & sixteen to him and his heirs forever -also three hundred dollars in cash , provided my said son Edw should return to this place within Seven Years from my decease -but if it should so happen that my son Edward should not return within that time, it is my desire that the said three lots should be sold by my Executors hereafter named, and the monies arriving there from, and the aforesaid three hundred dollars with its interest, be equally divided divided among my Grand children and that the same may be as productive as possible it is my wish that my Executors rent out the said three lots and put the mponey to interest for the use of my said Son if he should return within the time aforesaid, & if not then to my said Grand children
4thly, It is my desire that my Executors, out of the monies arriving from the sales herafter mentioned, ??? one thousand dollars in Stock of the Nashville bank and that the interest arriving therefrom be given to my Son David Hay during his natural life, for a support, and after his death it is my desire that the said bank Stock be equally divided among my said Grand Children.
5thly, I give to my Daughter in Law Barbara Hay her Executors xx one feather Bed and furniture, my white riding mare & Saddle also one cow and calf, her choice of one half of the Kitchen furniture and one Bureau(??)
6thly, I give to my Grand Daughter Sophronia W Campbell hers Exors One thousand dollars in money two Negro Girls viz Jenny and Mary, also my large Bible, one Desk(?), one dozen Silver Tea spoons, one pair Sugar tongs, one cream spoon, a set of Table Spoons, my best sorrel mare and the second choice of my bed furniture.
7th, I give to my Grandson Patrick W Campbell his executors a negro boy named Randal and my young brown mare.
8thly, I give to my Grandson William Campbell a negro girl named Violet and my young sorrel horse.
9th, I desire that all the perishable part of my Estate not heretofore specifically named, together with all my houses and lots in the Town of Nashville, my out lot beyond the south field, and my farm on the north side of the Cumberland River, be immedeatly sold after my decease, and out of the monies arriving therefrom, that my Executors pay the legacies heretofore mentioned and the residue to be equally divided among my Grand children Sophronia W Campbell, Patrick W Campbell, William P Campbell, James G Campbell, Albert G Campbell, & Eudolphus D Campbell and to be enjoyed by them forever -and lastly - I do constitute and appoint my friends William Tach and Thomas Crutcher Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal at Nashville, this Sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred & fourteen.

This profile is incorrect. Ann Ware married Anthony Campbell and here is the official record: Campbell, Anthony, and Ann Ware. Certificate of marriage by the Rev. Benjamin Berger, in the year 1782. Returned at a court held August 5, 1782. (Order Book 1782-1784, p. 1.)
