William Madison Ware and Hiram Valentine Ware's Father was "William Ware" who is of no biological relation to Matilda Ware Arbogast. There is literally zero information on William Ware & his existence has caused many family whispers that can not verify.
William and Matilda had two surviving children together: William Madison & Hiram Valentine. William Madison was born in 1830 & Hiram in 1838 but there is no census that shows their father living with them or birth records. There is no record of birth, life or death for William Ware. The only known published record of him is from a Biography of Hiram.
In a nutshell.... There is no proof of William Ware marrying Matilda. There is no proof of William Ware even being an actual person. Family Rumors have it that all of Matilda's children were from Moses Arbogast. She lives with Moses in most of the Census records. It is well known that Matilda lived next door to Moses and actively took care of his children from other marriages. [2]
Burial: William Ware Family Burial Ground, Ware Ridge, Randolph Coundy., West Virginia. [4]
[5]Inscription: (open book), Matilda, wife of , Moses Arbogast, born, June 4 1805, died, Jan 18 1860, (verse).
Note: Cemetery is about 100 yards from the main Ware Cemetery at Mingo on Ware's Ridge along with two of her sons. There were other children. Matilda's first born is William Madison Ware per Carolyn F. Bodkins. Matilda had 5 children out of wedlock, most probably with Moses Arbogast whom she later married. The children are William, Amanda V., Eugenius M., Hiram Valentine, and George R. Ware,[6]
