from Timaru; In the 1923 probate file widow Jamesina swears that John died 17th Oct 1917. The nearest in online dth index is a 66 yr old in 1919, who just happens to have died on the 17th Oct 1919, reg. Chch. Partially confirmed by John still being in the 1919 electoral roll.
