William Warfield, father of John Warfield of this review, spent his entire life in his native state, his death there occurring when his son John was but six months old. His widow afterward married Jacob Holloway, who removed to what is now Belmont county, Ohio, and there her death occurred in 1866. By her first marriage she had three children:

• Mary,
• Maria,
• John,

All now deceased. The children of her second marriage have likewise all passed away.^[1]
