Biography

John Warner was born 3 September 1683 in Hadley, Massachusetts. He was the son of Nathaniel Warner and Joanna Gardener.

He was in the Deerfield fight in 1704 when his brother Nathaniel was killed. He probably moved to Enfield, Connecticut in about 1709 or 1710.

He married Abigail Pasco in Enfield 15 November 1710. Abigail died 15 Feb 1711/12.

John remarried in Enfield November 19, 1713 to Tabitha Abbe, the daughter of Thomas Abbe and his wife Sarah (Farichild).

He was one of 12 First Settlers of Stafford, Connecticut in 1719.

By 1724 they removed to Stafford (as shown by their children's birth records). John's brothers Samuel and Daniel also relocated to Stafford by this time.

John eventually removed to Somers, Connecticut where he died 18 September 1753.

Research notes

There are multiple John Warners of this area/time period. John's migration from Hadley to Enfield to Stafford and eventually Somers is documented in a court action brought in 1742 in Northampton, Massachusetts by the descendants of Nathaniel Warner of Hadley to recover land in Hadley. The documents show his change of residence over the years. This ties together the paper trail in the various locations.
