Jessie was born 26 August 1905 in Oklahoma; she is the daughter of John Henry Shore and Rosalie Steelman. Ballard was 29 years old and Jessie was 18 years old as recorded on their marriage certificate. W.L. Dwiggings and Mrs. W.L. Dwiggins of Mocksville, North Carolina and A.K. Waskelis of Winston-Salem, North Carolina were witnesses to their marriage by [C.R.] Law, a Minister of the Church of the Brethren. Ballard was a resident of Tobaccoville, North Carolina and Jessie was a resident of Cana, North Carolina. They had one known child.
