Member of Belchertown Congregational Church, was town clerk in 1799, and kept a tavern in what was known as Federal Street. He was called Captain. Married (1) in Belchertown Feb 15, 1776 Sarah Scott, who joined the church in 1785 and died in 1812, aged 62. He married (2) in Belchertown, Oct 18, 1812, Mrs. Rachel Vanborn of Springfield, Mass. who survived him and was administratrix of his estate. There were no children by either marriage.
