The late Mr Warren, who was manager of the Auckland branch of Coulls, Somerville, Wilkie, Ltd., was born in Wellington 60 years ago, his father, who arrived in 1842, being then a member of the force known as the Armed Constabulary. He was for some years with the firm of Whitcombe and Tombs, Ltd., in the printing and stationery trade. Later, he went to Nelson, where he lived for 12 years. He then returned to Wellington, and several years ago was sent to Auckland to open a branch of the business of Coulls, Somerville, Wilkie. Ltd. When in Wellington in his younger days the late Mr Warren took a lively interest in the volunteers, and was a member of the old D Battery, of Field Artillery. He was also a good cricketer. He was associated at various times with the Taranaki Street Wesleyan Church, the Nelson Methodist Church, and the Trinity Church at Newtown, of which he was a trustee. At the time of his death he was a member of the Methodist Church, Devonport, and for some time had been superintendent of the Vauxhall Sunday School. Mr Warren was a member of the Masonic order, and was a keen bowler, being a member of the Newtown, Khandallah and Devonport clubs at different times.
