Disputed Parents

It has been suggested that Richard Warren was the son of Anthony Warren, but this is only speculative. Other possibilities for Richard's father are discussed at this website. He could be a grandson of Sir Laurence Warren. NOTE: Apparently, this website has disappeared.

Note: see this website at Ancestry of Tipperary Wallers which includes the discussion.

So far, there is no evidence that his name was "Robert." That has been deleted.

Richard Waller was probably from Long Stowe originally, probably born about 1501, and later lived in Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, England.[1]

According to TAG 58:166ff, Richard Waller/Warren wrote a will 28 mar 1557 in Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, England, in which he named wife Alice and children. Wife Alice is almost certainly Alice Jenaway.[1] From this and from the wills of his named children, it can be surmised that Richard and Alice had the following children:[1]

  1. Richard c 1527, married Beatrice
  2. Helen c 1529, married John Foote
  3. Nicholas c 1531
  4. Henry c 1533, had daughter Augerye
  5. Alice c 1535, likely married Richard Frende
  6. William c 1537, married Margaret Painter

Richard passed away in before 1557. [2]

Richard Waller's will was proved on 2 May 1557.

re: Father of Richard. Anthony Warren is not of Poynton or a son of Laurence. I have seen no evidence of anyone existing.

However, there is Anthony Warren of Fifield who was dead by May 11, 1574, who was the father of William born 1562.

"Description: Short title: Warren v Baker. Plaintiffs: William Warren of Fifhide [Fifield, parish of Enford], Wiltshire, esq, aged 12, son of Anthony Warren deceased, by Thomas Mychelborne, gent, and Alice his wife, his mother and guardian. Defendants: Henry Baker and Jane his wife, widow of Richard Warren deceased. Subject of decree: Possession of a messuage called Kepnell and lands called Brode Mede in Pewsey, Wiltshire. Date of decree: 11 May 16 Eliz. Date: 1574 May 11.

There is also a Richard Warren of Pewsey, Wiltshire, gent. living in 1567

Since there is not proof of Richard Warren's ancestors, can you please remove Anthony Warren as his father? It messes up Wikitree's relationship finder for myself and every other descendent of Richard Warren. Thanks for your help on this!

I saw a reference to a possible G2G. Where is it? Let's recap.

Motive: Boris Johnson - August 2019 chart from NEHGS - shows Robert Foote and Joan Brooke.

... there was some discussion about the subject, that seemed to be missing ... has moved (or it was just a reference) to this discussion by Wallers of Tipperary.

See the "Visitation of Cheshire" at page 242. Richard's supposed grandfather Lawrence Warren was the son of John Warren and Isabel Stanley.

Let the discussions continue, such as those at the Profile of Helen (Warren) Foote and her son Robert.

Are Waller-3480 and Warren-47 the same person? Given they have the same wife and died in the same year and place and the alternate name for Richard Warren was

Waller, they might be ..Some pre-1500 certified member needs to check it out...

The link for the discussion of possible origins for Richard Warren has been taken down. Can anyone post a synopsis?

Warren-8329 and Warren-47 may not represent the same person because:

Agreed that the two Richards seem to be the same person. Same Alice Jenawaye wife, same Helen (Foote) daughter. Dates of birth/baptism are out 20 years, but they are approx anyway. However Richard was the son of William, not Anthony. The link from Anthony to the Poynton Warrens (Sir Laurence) has puzzled all sorts of researchers for a long time and is a guess. So, if we merge Warren-8329 to Warren-47 and leave the descent from Anthony I don’t think it will not add to our understanding of the genealogy.

Warren-8329 and Warren-47 appear to represent the same person because: These two profiles would appear to be the same person, based on name and wife's name and approximate dates.

Per the existing "disputed parents" section, it seems appropriate to disconnect his alleged parents; I'll be doing some cleanup, and others are welcome to weigh in.
