Biography

John Warren's estate was divided equally between Elizabeth Boddie (Nathan), Nancy Warren, and Arthur Warren. [1] More research is necessary to determine if any of these were his widow or children.

Research Notes

John Warren is possibly descended from the Poynton, Cheshire Warrens. This branch emigrated to Maryland and Virginia, which were called "West Indies" at the time. His line of descent would be:

  • Colonel Humphrey Warren (1632-1673) - 300 acre land grant he called "Frailty" 12 February 1662/3 in Charles County, Maryland. He had with second wife:
  • Thomas Warren (bef 1663-1710) - inherited "Frailty." His first wife, Mary Barton brought the farm "Strife" to the marriage. His second wife was Jane. By Mary he had:
  • Barton Warren (bef 1705-1757) - inherted "Frailty" and "Strife." [2]

This excerpt pinpoints who he may have been:

"Barton Warren of Charles County, a minor in 1705, inherited of his father's estate the farms "Frailty" and "Strife," which he left by will, proved 9th March, 1757, to his sons and wife Elizabeth, by whom he had - Notley; John; Edward, of Georgia; Robert, b. 6th September, 1742, d. in Tennessee, 26th October, 1826, having nineteen married children alive; Susanna; Jane, m. Mr. Hungerford; and William Barton." [2]
