Elizabeth Warren Gaines was born about 1765 in Culpeper County, Virginia Colony. She was married to Humphrey Gaines on 12 Feb 1789, in Goochland, Virginia, at the age of 24. Elizabeth and Humphrey were the parents of five boys: James C., Henry Strother, Allen R., Hiram, and William Jordan. They also had several daughters, but the their names are not known at this time.
Elizabeth died 23 February 1858, in Clayton, Rabun County, Georgia, at the age of 93. According to Find A Grave, she is buried in the Persimmon Baptist Cemetery in Clayton, Rabun County, Georgia (or the Hughes Family Cemetery, Cherokee County, Georgia). The Find A Grave Index also says that her parents are Ephraim and Susanna Warren. (More research needs to be done to verify that these are her parents.) Additionally, Find A Grave says the inscription on her grave stone reads: "In Memory of Elizabeth Gaines, Died Feb. 23, 1858". She is buried next to her sons, Andrew Gaines and Hiram Gaines. All have the same headstones and footstones.
