On 25 Oct 1797, Betsy married Thomas Montgomery, and they settled on the "old James Stewart farm" in Montgomery Township. They had ten children over the next twenty years.[1]
↑ Tartt (1884. p. 53) and Stormont (1914. p. 47-48) both mention only six children, in the same order, without dates: Polly, Nelly, Moses, Nancy, Jacob and Thomas. Montgomery (1903, p. 249-253) mentions the same six in a different order, adding birth years. French & Armstrong (1928, p. 187) repeat Montgomery's list. Turman (1981, p. 242) notes Montgomery's omission of four additional children born to the couple: Patsy, Malinda, John and Elizabeth, and provides the dates shown here. Trimble (1992, p. 155) follows Turman. The list at MontyHistNotes errs in including two Eleanor/Nellies and two Elizabeth/Betseys; the list at CMSI errs in including two Mary/Pollys and two Thomases.
