Clara F. Warriner was born in Franklin County, Nebraska on October 21, 1882 [1] to Austin H. Warriner and Luella (Burton) Warriner.[2] She had at least two sisters, including an older sister Olivia born in about 1880 and a younger sister named Hattie born in about 1884.
When Clara was twenty-five, she was working as a teacher and residing in Everson, Whatcom County, Washington.[2] On June 27, 1897, she married Jason Hope Adkinson, a shingle weaver, in Everson.[2] She reported her name as "Clara Fannie Warriner" on her marriage license, and that her father was "A.H. Warriner" and that her mother's maiden name was "Luella Burton."[2] Esther Jones and John H. Warriner served as the couple's witnesses on their wedding day.[2]
Clara and Jason had several children, including Burton, Leona, Beecher, Faye, Vivienne, and Clarice.[3] In 1915, at the birth of their daughter Vivienne, the couple was still residing in Everson, Washington. However, as April 26, 1940, the couple were residing in San Diego, California at 3926 Iowa Street[4] in a neighborhood that is now known as the North Park neighborhood [5].
