John was born on the 10th September 1849 in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England.[1] He was the son of John Washington and Ann Dewey.

John married Elizabeth Ann Ward on the 25 December 1872 in St Georges Chapel in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England.[2][3]
Residence
In 1951 he was living at 30 Victoria Street, Littleport in Cambridgeshire, England with his parents John Washington and Ann Dewey and his sister Ann Washington.[4] In 1961, aged 11, John was living with his parents at 37 Victoria Street, Littleport in Cambridgeshire, England. He was attending school at this time.[5] In 1971, now aged 21, he was living with his parents at 27 Victoria Street, Littleport in Cambridgeshire, England. He was working as a farmer.[6]In 1881, aged 31, he lived at 104 Wisbech Road East in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England with his wife Elizabeth Ann Ward and four children. He was now working as a plate layer on the railway.[7]In 1891, aged 41, he lived at 105 Wisbech Road East in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England with his wife and now five children. He was still working as a plate layer on the railway.[8]In 1901, aged 51, he lived at 40 Mill Pit Furlong in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England with his wife and seven children. He was now working as a foreman plate layer on the railway.[9]On the 19 Aug 1903 John departed Liverpool, England on board the RMS Teutonic with his family, arriving at the Port of New York on the 27 August 1903 to begin a new life in the USA. John died on the 16 Jun 1933 in Dunkirk, Chautauqua County, New York, USA. [16][17][18]He was buried in Fredonia, Chautauqua County, New York, USA. [19]
