Hi Keith , is this Catherine in the wrong branch of President George Washington's family ? I can not seem to find another full sister for George named Catherine in any of the sources . He had one half-sister , Jane , from Father's first marruage; a full sister that lived to adulthood named Betty ( who married Feilding Lewis) and a full sister named Mildred that died young.

Catherine Washington was George and Betty's 1st Cousin by Augustine's brother John. She married Fielding Lewis who was her 2nd Cousin. Just a few months after Catherine passed away, Fielding Married Betty Washington.

This URL will take you to image #57 in

"The pedigree and history of the Washington family: derived ... "

It claims that Col. John Washington 1627-1677 was Great Grandfather to Gen. George Washington. Col. Washington had 4 children [Laurence, John, Elizabeth and Anne all listed in the 21st generation. It's a big book.]

https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc2.ark:/13960/t49p2x00h&view=1up&seq=176

This takes you to Image #176, page 114, where Catherine is listed as the 5th child of John Washington, the grandson of Col. John Washington mentioned above. It claims she married Fielding Lewis. Catherine is in the 23rd generation.

The next entry in the 22nd generation is Augustine Washington. He had a total or 2 wives and 10 children. Gen. George was the eldest in the second marriage. Elizabeth "Betty" Washington was Mary Ball's second child.

https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc2.ark:/13960/t49p2x00h&view=1up&seq=186

This takes you to Image #186, page 124, where Catherine's children by Fielding are listed. There it also remarks on Fielding marrying Betty Washington, second child of Augustine Washington by second wife.

Back on image #177, page 115, the author claims that Mary Ball was the daughter of Col. William Ball. Mary's father was Joseph Ball. I've discovered a couple of other errors, I believe, so you need to question what the facts this book claims. However, it seems that most of it follows other sources.

[Once you have one of these URLs listed in my message, on the Address Bar of your browser, changing the number after seq= will take you to another image. A the URLs are the same except for this number. Fielding Lewis has a Find a Grave Memorial at URL

This has an excellent Biography that seems well sourced. It confirms what I said about Fielding marrying Betty just month after Catherine passed.

Have fun.
