Robert (Small) Washington is a part of US Black heritage.

Robert Benny Small was born on 23 Oct 1934 in Mobile, Mobile, Alabama, United States, son of McDonald Small and Bernice Washington. He was raised by his mother and stepfather James Williams. His biological father was named in a social security record.^[1]

He married Ruth Marie Cook on 2 Nov 1959 in Mobile, Alabama. He was widowed in 1961 after the birth of their son, Robert Jr.^[2]

He later married Hattie Louise Bettis on 13 August 1966 in Montgomery County, Alabama, United States.^{[3] [4]}

He was a merchant seaman retiree (National Maritime Union) according to his obituary that can be found on his FindAGrave memorial.

Robert died on 10 Sep 2000 in Mobile, aged 65.^[5]
