Biography

Alice (Washington) Roux is a part of US Black heritage.

Alice was the daughter of Albert and Josephine Washington.^[1]

Alice was approximately 21 year old when she married 22 year old Herbert Roux on April 26, 1928, in Orleans, Louisiana.^[2]

The 1930 U.S. Census lists Alice as an 18 year old married negro woman living with her husband and a young daughter in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana. Her birth year is estimated as 1912 and she was born in Louisiana. It is noted that Alice was 17 years old when she married Herbert. Alice is able to read and write. She does not work outside the house.^[3]
