Lafayette Washington was an American Negro league pitcher. He played in the 1940s with the St. Louis New Orleans Stars, Birmingham Black Barons, Cincinnati Clowns, and Seattle Steelheads.[1]
Lafayette Washington was born on January 26, 1915 in Alma, Crawford County, Arkansas.[1] His father was King Emanuel Washington, and his mother Bertha (Ingram) Washington. They divorced when he was a child, and he lived with his grandmother Julia Washington.[2]
In 1940, he lived in Wrightsville, Pulaski County, Arkansas.[3] That same year, he started playing baseball in the Negro leagues with the St. Louis New Orleans Stars. He later played for the Birmingham Black Barons, Cincinnati Clowns and the Seattle Steelheads.[1]
