David Waterhouse was the seventh son of John Waterhouse of Halifax and Shibden in Yorkshire and his wife, Jane Bosvile. He was born in Shibden Hall in the township of Southowram within the ancient parish of Halifax, WRY, England in 1564/5 and was baptised 3 March 1564/5 [1] at St John the Baptist in Halifax.[2] [3] " David filius Johis Waterhouse de Schybden"
He was educated at University College, Oxford and Inner Temple. [4]
His wife was Elizabeth daughter of Thomas Crane and his wife, Dorothy Lockey.[4] They were married at Newton Tony on 26 August 1594. [5] Together they had two sons and a daughter. [4]
David first entered Parliament as member for Aldborough in 1589. He was member for Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1601. In 1603 he was one of the executors of the 1596 will of Dorothy Crane, his mother-in-law. [6]
In 1624 David was committed to The Fleet and fined £500 (today over £300,000) by the House of Lords for writing a scandalous petition.
The date of his death is not known.
