Sir William Alfred Waterlow KBE JP 1st Bt was born on 23rd April 1871 at Marylebone, Middlesex, England. He was the younger son of James Waterlow and Kate Sisson.[1] He was born three months after his father passed away. He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire.
He was a practising solicitor in 1895. Later, he was managing director of Waterlow Brothers and Layton. He was chairman of Waterlow and Sons.
He married Adelaide Hay Gordon on 30th April 1904 at St George, Scotland.[2] They had two sons.
He held the office of Alderman of the City of London, Cornhill Ward. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (JP) for Middlesex. He held the office of Sheriff of London in 1928, and was Lord Mayor of London between 1929 and 1930.
He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 1919. He was appointed Commander of the Order of Dannebrog of Denmark, Commander of the Order of the Rising Sun of Japan 2nd Class, and Commander of the Order of the Nile of Egypt. He was created 1st Baronet Waterlow, of Harrow Weald, County Middlesex on 28th October 1930.
He passed away on 6th July 1931 at Marylebone, Middlesex.[3]
