Biography

Christened at High Halden on 18th March 1827. Three census returns (1881, 1891, 1901) state that she was born there and three (1851, 1861, 1871) state that she was born at Bethersden. The latter is probably correct, as some of her siblings are also said to have been born at Bethersden, but, apart from a few years in childhood, Amelia lived her whole life in High Halden.

Her known children were: Mary (Dean) 1848 - 1900, Lucy (Foord) 1851 - 1924, James Edmund 1855 - 1925, Eliza Ann (Moore) 1857 - 1936, Richard Thomas 1859 - 1925, William 1862 - 1946, George Edmund 1865 - 1928, Jemima (Maylam) 1868 - 1947.
