Leonard married Gladys May Saunders on 16th February 1946 in St George, in South West Queensland. [2]
Leonard was the first Aboriginal Australian military aviator, and the only one to serve as a fighter pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force during the Second World War. [3] [1]
He passed away aged 69 years old on the 24th August 1993 in Cunnamulla, Queensland, and is buried in the St George Cemetery, St George, Queensland. [1]
