Biography

William Gilbert Watkins was born on 4 Sep 1920 in Alabama;[1][2] he was the son of William Watkins and Mary Virginia Springer.[3]

In 1930,[3] William G. Watkins (age 9, born Alabama) was living in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the household of his father, William Ira Watkins (age 71, born Alabama), with his mother, M. Virginia Waktins (age 49), and his Watkins siblings, born Alabama (age, sex): i) Mary E. (14, F), Julie F. (11, F). William Ira and Virginia had been married for 15 years. William Ira Watkins owned his residence, which was a farm. He was able to read and write. He was a farmer by occupation; he was not a veteran.

On 25 Feb 1950,[1] William Gilbert Watkins enlisted in the U.S. Air Force; he was discharged from service on 24 Apr 1952.

On 6 Oct 1950 in Alabama City, Etowah County, Alabama,[4] William Watkins (age 32) married Katie Syble Pound (age 30). William's parents were William Ira Watkins and Mary Virginia Springer. Katie's parents were James A. Pound and Mattie Lora Thompson.

William Gilbert Watkins died on 29 Oct 2005 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama,[2] [1] and he was buried in the Bethany Cemetery, Coker, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, USA. [5]
