Pioneer and settler, of 'Pae Tawa', Fulford Street, New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. The ship 'Mary Webster' was named after her.
Mary Watson was the eldest and only surviving daughter of Sarah Patten and John Niner Watson. She was born on 15 April 1848 in New Plymouth.
On 15 April 1868, her 20th birthday and her husband's 27th birthday, she married William Dawson Webster, the younger son of Sarah Frances Dorset and James Webster, of New Plymouth, formerly of London. They had issue eight sons and five daughters (of whom one daughter and one son died in infancy).
Her husband died in 1923.
She died on 12 January 1925 at New Plymouth, aged 76, only a few hours after her mother, Sarah Patten Watson, also died, aged 98. She was buried with her husband in Te Henui Cemetery, New Plymouth, Taranaki. Widow, on burial record, last address: Fulford Street.
