Biography

James Watson may have been born in Virginia around 1764 (Find a Grave). He was executed by hanging May 12, 1827 in Bardstown, Nelson, Kentucky. The newspaper article stated a crowd of approximately 5,000 witnessed the event. James was convicted for the murder of Michael Coffman and Washington Courtney. Michael was the son-in-law of James and Washington was the brother-in-law of Michael. James married Nancy Coffman August 23, 1796 in Bardstown, Nelson, Kentucky. Their daughter Anna Married Michael Coffman Dec 6, 1822.
