Robert was born in 1877, the son of Thomas Morgan Allan Watson and Agnes Scimgeour. [1]
In 1927, in Shanghai, China, enroute to Korea as Missionaries, he married Amy Elizabeth Beard (1889-1935). [2]

- REV. R. D. WATSON
- Rev. Robert Darling Watson, Presbyterian Church minister, died yesterday at Branxholme, where he had been stationed for 2 years. He engaged in missionary work in Korea for 18 years before coming to Victoria. Mr. Watson has left 3 sons, Captain J. Watson, Royal Medical Corps; Captain Donald Watson, of Greta (NSW), and Mr. David Watson. Mrs. Watson died 12 years ago.
He was buried in Branxholme Cemetery. [5]
