DUTCH_ROOTS
My paternal 3rd great grandmother was Jacobina Maria Couperous, daughter of Abraham Couperous governor of Malacca in the Dutch East Indies. This family has been very well documented and can be traced back for several generations and forward for many more.
EAST_INDIES
I have many generations of Tullochs involved in the British East India Company and of Couperuses involved in the Dutch East India Company as ancestors.
ENGLAND
I, my parents and all my grandparents were born in England. I can trace many lines of English Ancestry back to before 1700.
EUROARISTO
I can trace at least three of the branches of my tree back to European aristocracy, Clan Mackay in Scotland, Maunsells in Buckinghamshire and Wallers of Buckinghamshire, and would like to cooperate with the project and benefit from the huge amount of work that you have done.
INDIA
My paternal great grandparents (Clarke and Tulloch) married in India where both families were in the HEIC army. The Tullochs in particular were generals in the army for many generations.
IRISH_QUAKERS
Many of my ancestors and cousins were Irish Quakers. They are an endless source of fascination as they left such good records and inter-married endlessly.
IRISH_ROOTS
I have at least ten generations of Irish ancestors on my father's side, mostly but not exclusively Quakers. Most were based around Offaly, Laois or Tipperary, but there were also some from the north. Some of the first arrivals came to escape persecution in England; others were soldiers in Cromwell's army. I have a few other ancestors with Irish links much further back, eg early Fitzgeralds and O'Beolans.
QUAKERS
My paternal great grandparents (Watson and Bewley) were Quakers in Irelend for 10 generations on each side, and intermarried with all the other Irish Quaker families. The Bewleys and others were Quakers in England before going to Ireland and many cousins became Quakers in Pennsylvania.
SCOTLAND
I have Scots ancestors on my mother's and my father's side. My mother's ancestors include Websters, Provands (and Blackadders) from Stirling; my father's ancestors include Tullochs, probably from Nairn, and Clarkes from Durness in Sutherland. The Clarke's ancestors include many branches of the clan Mackay and numerous other clans.
DNA Tested
Alan Watson's DNA has been tested for genealogical purposes. It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Alan or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Alan:

7. Diaspora

Can you let me know which team(s) you’d like to join.

Many thanks,

Hi Alan,

I haven’t heard back from you about the break up of the United Kingdom Project. I hope all is well with you. I assume you don’t wish to join any of the country-level projects at present, and will go ahead and remove the United Kingdom badge. If you wish to join England, Scotland, Wales or Ireland in the future, you would be most welcome to do so via the respective G2G sign-up post.

Many thanks for all your contributions,

Susie :-)

Hi Alan,

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.

Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please don’t assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.

Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.

Many thanks,

Susie

Hi Alan - thanks for your comment on my page also thank you for enabling me to link my family to yours, as Thomas Clement was one of my 'brick walls' for a long time! I suspect you're right about William Blunt brother of Martha being your ancestor - he may well be in the Petersfield parish records, which don't seem to be transcribed anywhere online. As my mother lives fairly nearby on the Isle of Wight, I might try and look into the Petersfield records some time and I'll see if I can find your William. I'm sure Thomas Clement Sr is related to John Clement of Steep, but again can find no trace of a birth record for him - again it's likely in the Petersfield registers.

Thanks again Liz

Hi Alan, I wrote to you yesterday that I thought that Edward Alexander was my 5th great grandfather. As of today, we are rethinking that one. We are almost sure that he is, but need to make additional connections before we declare it. Thank you, Linda Alexander

Hi Alan

I’m the new Project Coordinator for the England Project. I am contacting you, as there have been some recent changes to the project which we are keen to bring to your attention. Please look at the England Project page for more information on the changes and the ways members are able to actively contribute moving forward. Once you have considered how you would like to participate, please contact either myself or Susie to let us know. We can then list your involvement, help you join the Google group forum for England, and give you any other help you may need to get going. If we don’t hear back from you we’ll assume you do not wish to be a part of the England Project for the time being. We really hope you will join the team! Gillian
