Biography

Notice on the same Middlesex Co., VA marriage register page Julia Watts marriage to Samuel Wood is recorded; Isham Miller is Security/Witness for John B. Dunlavy (also other spellings such as Dunlevy; my Miller’s had ties to them) marriage to Catherine Robinson (Miller’s also had ties to the Robinson’s). This Isham Miller could be Isham Miller, Sr. at about age 66 or his son, Isham Miller, Jr. I do not know what year Isham Miller, Sr. died. Isham Miller, Sr. is believed to be the father of Christopher A. Miller; who later also married Julia Watts (assume after Samuel Wood had past away).

From same source as immediately below: 1817 Middlesex Co., VA Dabney A. Miller witness to marriage: "Samuel Wood and Mrs. Judith B. Daniel, who signs own consent; Judith is widow of Beverly Daniel, decd. sur and wit: Dabney A. Miller and Phil. T. Montague (p. 82)" - bond 1/16/1817

NOTE: Based on a web search, it appears Julia and Judith are different versions of the same name (often used in Ireland). My Miller's had several known connections to Northern Ireland (however they were Scottish Miller's/Millar's).

NOTE: Dabney A. Miller noted above would be Dabney Anderson Miller (WikiTree ID: Miller-60285; b- circa 1782), who is Isham Miller, Sr.'s nephew. Julia Watt's 2nd husband, Christopher A. Miller was Isham Miller, Sr.'s son.

  • Page 119 of Middlesex County, Virginia Wills, Inventories & Accounts 1673 - 1812 by William Lindsay Hopkins (1989):

Beverley Daniel is a witness to Thomas Watts' 3/20/1800 will (probated 7/28/1800); transcription reads: "My two sisters viz Elizabeth Watts and Ann Watts.. Charles Watts, son of Elizabeth Watts. Nephew Curtis WOOD. Mother, Sally Watts. Exor: Mother. Wit. Robert Ware, Samuel Ware, and BEVERLEY DANIEL.

NOTE: Juila Watt's father had a brother named Thomas Watt's and a sister named Ann Watts; however the Thomas Watt's whose will was recorded in 1800 likely was one of Julia Watts' other family members. Also Julia Watt's 1st? husband was Samuel Wood and "Nephew Curtis WOOD" is noted in Thomas Watt's 1800 will.

It appears the Daniel's had ties to the Watts' family based on 1755 document below:

1751 (Apr 1755 court date)

Account kept by James Daniel in 1751 lists cash paid by Francis Sykes for a coffin; William Moulson for rum; Cat. Thomas Price; Mr. Secretary Nelson; James Reed; and RALPH WATTS, Jr. (Court Papers 1754-1758) [It maybe that who I listed as Ralph Watts, Jr. on WikiTree was Ralph Watts, III and RALPH WATTS, Jr. noted in the above 1755 document was Ralph Watts, III's father.

24 July 1754

Robert Daniel, merchant, complains of Mourning Richards (Court Papers 1754-1758)

27 Nov 1776

Will of Lodowick Jones

Beverly Daniel is one of the executors of Lodowick’s will, along with wife Lucy Jones, Leroy Peachy, Charles McCarty; dau Elizabeth Travis Jones (underage); wit: James Montague, Robert Curtis, and Philip Montague (WB F 1772-1787, p. 90)

Philip Montague noted above is likely the father of Philip Montague, Jr. noted in Julia Watts' marriage below.

Thomas Miller of King & Queen Co., VA had definite connections to the Peachy family. Leroy Peachy noted in the the document above with Philip Montague (Sr.).

  • Middlesex County, Virginia 3/12/1823 marriage record of Julia Watts notes her husband as Samuel Wood and her father as Ralph Watts. Philip Montague, Jr. is Security and Witness to the marriage.

The fact Julia & Christopher Miller definitely named a child John Watts Miller gives some confirmation that Julia's maiden name was Watts.

A Ralph Watts wrote his will in 1789 (died same year) in Middlesex Co., VA. He very well could be the grandfather of Julia Watts (not father, since he does not mention her in his will and she is known to have been born in 1797 (8 years after this Ralph Watts' death). A John Healy witnessed Ralph Watts' 1789 will. John Healy had connections to my known Miller's in Middlesex / King & Queen County, VA.

John Healy and John Hadley could have been the same person. The brother (John Miller) of my 5th great grandfather, Christopher Miller (c. 1708 - c. 1758) married Sara Hadley the daughter of John Hadley (WikiTree ID: Hadley-1489; died about 1710). John "Healy" who witnessed Ralph Watts' 1789 could have been a grandson of John Hadley.

OTHER CONNECTIONS OF THE MIDDLESEX CO., VA WATTS FAMILY TO THE DANIEL FAMILY IN THE SAME COUNTY

Ann Watts-2990 (1703-1767; daughter of Hugh Watts) married a William Daniel-1981on 12/7/1721. This William Daniel could have been a family member of Beverley Daniel.
