Hi,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Welcome! We are so glad you are here! Please let me know if you are interested in joining our WikiTree DNA Project: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:DNA or our FamilyTreeDNA.com public page at https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/wiki-tree/about

Please set your preferences for your Tags Followed to include DNA on the GenealogistToGenealogist (G2G) feed: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

If you are adding any DNA tests to profiles on WikiTree, please be sure to add the tests to the actual test participant's profile, and that the Privacy is set to show the participant's Family Tree tab.

We also encourage you to join our Google+ Community for DNA discussions, questions and new information: https://plus.google.com/communities/111329829039015718912

Hello,

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

Guy - Wikitree Mentor / Leader

Hi Kazzel,

Thanks for your message regarding your interest in genealogy and helping others where you can. I have found WikiTree to be an excellent tool for research and collaboration.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree. Once you entered your family members it is exciting to see other people finding your family profiles, asking questions, and expanding it.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Great to have you on board, good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree.

Hi Everyone. It's so nice to have a site that is free as some of us, such as myself, have limited resources. I love History, Archaeology and Paleontology. I'm happy to help others with their Family Tree and have been doing mine for 16 yrs now. I'm not an expert, I still class myself as a beginner. When I've been doing this for 30yrs then I'll be at the Intermediate stage and 50yrs, wahoo, I'll be advanced. I'm always learning something new about genealogy everyday. I do believe that if you are drawn to certain places, languages and cultures around the world, chances are your ancestors have come from that region. I am also going to do a DNA test at some stage in the future. I look forward to working with everyone.
