His father's will spells his name Edmund.

There is no mention of Edward in his grandfather's 1684 will which made me think he had died by then. But the documents below shows that he was still in St. Mary's county in 1700. After that he appears to have moved to Virginia. He may have journeyed back and forth across the Potomac wherever there was employment for a carpenter.
