Biography

Gertrude, usually known as Avis, was born 2nd January 1920, Perth district, Western Australia. She is the daughter of Godwin Watts and Ivy Hand. [1]

APPROACHING MARRIAGES
The marriage of Avis, only daughter of Mr and Mrs G. A. W. Watts, of Woodsome-street. Mt Lawley, to Major J. M. Bonnin, son of Dr and Mrs Bonnin, of Mills-terrace, North Adelaide, will take place at St Peter's College Chapel, Adelaide, at 8.30 pm on Saturday, August 15.[3]

At St. Peter's College Chapel
The Rev. Guy Pentreath officiated on Saturday at St. Peter's College Chapel at the marriage of Miss Avis Watts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. W. Watts, of Mount Lawley, WA, to Maj. Mark Bonnin (AIF), son of Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Bonnin, of North Adelaide.
The bride, who had arrived from Perth at midday, was given away by her cousin, Mr. W. Watts (RAAF), and wore a soft blue-grey toned frock touched with fine lace, worn with a small black and blue hat. She carried a posy of Golden rosebuds.
Miss Winifred Bonnin was bridesmaid and wore her VAD uniform. Mr. Jim Bonnin was best man.
After the ceremony a few friends were entertained at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Bonnin. The hostess received in black with touches of blue, and a shoulder spray of orchids. [4]

Mark passed away in 1991.

Gertrude Avis passed away 6th December 2014 at Adelaide, South Australia, and was cremated on the 16th. On 11th May 2015, her ashes were placed next to those of her husband at Centennial Park: Services Family, Rose Bed 3, Position 061 & 062. [6]
