Mary Watts was the daughter of Thomas Watts.
Mary married John Caldecott or Chaldecott before 16 Sep 1735.
In 1735, Mary's grandfather Isaac Watts left her £50, to be paid when her brother Thomas reached the age of 23.
Mary and John had three known sons - John Caldecott, Charles Caldecott, and Richard Taunton Caldecott. All three are mentioned in the will of their uncle Thomas Watts. The eldest was mentioned in the will of Richard Taunton, Merchant and Alderman of Southampton (8 April 1752) as being apprenticed to his uncle Thomas Watts at that time. Her son John was described in his uncle's will as a goldsmith of Chichester, and was his executor.[1] John probably married Sarah Norman of Portsmouth, a widow, in 1776.[2] If John went on to be a banker in Chichester, then he had a son Thomas, who was a goldsmith, and died in or not long before 1794.[3]
Mary's uncle Isaac Watts, the famous hymn-writer, remembered her in his will dated 23 Jul 1746; she was living in Lincoln at the time.[4]
