Mary was born in Newton Ayr, Ayrshire on 10 December 1830 to Samuel Waugh and Ann Hill[1] She had moved to Aberdeen by 1859 where she lodged with Charles Geddes[2] and had three children with him - William, John and Daniel. She married Charles on 30 December 1865 [3]. John lived for only 7 months and Daniel died aged 4. Mary Ann died on 26 March 1876,[4] survived by Charles and only one of her children.
