Biography

Victor Mervyn Way was born on 12th October 1916 at Thebarton, South Australia, Australia. He was the son of Jesse Way and Hilda Chenoweth. [1] Birth details from air force records.

Victor Mervyn Way married Ruth Merle Unknown sometime before 1941. [citation needed]

Victor Mervyn Way enlisted in the RAAF during World War II, Service Number 416301. His next of kin was listed as his wife Ruth Way. [2]

In 1941, Victor was living with his wife, Ruth Merle, at 18 Park Terrace, Eastwood. His occupation was listed as computer. [3] He was still there in 1943, but his wife was not.

Victor and Ruth were divorced in 1947 as reported in the "News" on Thursday 16th January 1947.

In the Supreme Court today Mr. Justice Abbott granted orders nisi for divorce in the following undefended actions: Victor Mervyn Way, of Regent street, Adelaide, against Ruth Merle Way, of South terrace, Adelaide, on the ground of adultery with Marvin Ellis, of the U.S. Army.
