Biography

Identity: Hannah (Wayland) Jones was the wife of David Jones, and possibly the mother of James Jones.

Hannah Wayland married David Jones on 19 January 1629 in Charles City County, Virginia.[citation needed] They produced 10 children.[citation needed]

Research Notes

Charles City County, Virginia was created in 1634 as one of the eight original shires. The shires were immediately referred to as "Counties".

Name

A previously listed middle name of Faulkner was unsourced, and therefore removed during a merge. Spratlin-29 03:38, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

Uncertain Origins

The David Jones listed in the 21 Jun 1624/5 Muster of the Inhabitant's of Chaplains Choice and the Trueloves Company, Charles City, as "David Jones aged 22 yeares in the Trueloue 1622" is NOT listed with a wife Hannah.[1]

Marriage

The marriage date of 16 Jan 1629 in the data field was subsequently entered differently than stated in the biography which lists 19 Jan 1629. Spratlin-29 15:27, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Uncertain Children

Hannah, as wife of David, may be the mother of James Jones. Boddie[2] identifies Rev. Richard Jones, whose land was close to that of James, as one candidate, but then states "it seems slightly more probable that both men (Richard and James) were sons of David Jones …" See James' profile for additional candidates.
