Biography

Herman was born in 1901. He passed away in 1972. He and his wife Argin were the parents of 2 daughters. As a teen, Herman helped his father with his coal delivery business. Herman served in the US Army Air Corps and was a POW during WWII. Herman was in the Panama Canal Zone when he was transferred to Hawaii before WWII. A Newspaper report said that he was at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941. His daughter Louise told her grandson Stephen that he left the day before. Herman was captured in the Philippines by the Japanese. He missed the Batan Death March because he was in a Japanese POW prison hospital sick with malaria and berry-berry. Herman learned that his daughter Louise gave birth to her son David from a letter he received from the Red Cross.
