Biography

Note that her husband was not Stephen "Rockhouse Steve" Adams (husband of Nellie Buntin), who is closely associated and often confused with her husband Stephen Adams.

Many genealogies show her nickname as "Molly" or "Mollie."

Adams Family of Southeast Kentucky

A book called Adams Family of Southeast Kentucky published in 1986, gives some details of the life of Stephen Adams's wife Mary Webb and their children.[1] This book puts Mary's birth in 1775, in Surry County, North Carolina; her marriage to Stpehen Adams in 1798 in Wilkes County, North Carolina; her death in Morgan County, Kentucky, in 1851.

The books makes clear, as do many other genealogies, that her parents were James Webb and Elizabeth "Lettie" Nelson who lives in Surry County, North Carolina in the late 1700s. (Research notes: WikiTree entries for individuals resembling her parents have partially confused them with other individuals. More research and refinement is needed.)

See more details about her husband and children, etc, in her husband's entry.

1850 Census

Stephen Adams and his wife Mary Adams appear in the 1850 Census in Morgan County, Kentucky, in the household of their son William Adams.[2] The listing records Stephen Adams, 70, farmer, born in North Carolina, and Mary Adams, 75, born in North Carolina.

Mary was mentioned on a memorial in Webb Cemetery, Mayking, Letcher County, Kentucky, United States with a death date of 19 August 1851.[3]
