Biography

Ann Webb was born August 2, 1826 to William Webb and Mary Haycock.

At the time of the 1851 Census of Canada, Ann was 26 and was living with her husband Matthew, a cooper, and their three-year-old son William in King, York, Ontario. She gives her occupation as housekeeper.

At the time of the 1861 Census of Canada, Ann was 35 and had six young children. Ann and Matthew were living in King, York, Ontario.

At the time of the 1871 Census of Canada, Anne was 44 and had eight children at home, plus her widowed mother Mary Webb and 17 year old Eliza McKenzie. Ann and Matthew were farming in King, York, Ontario.

At the time of the 1881 Census of Canada, Anne and Matthew had moved to Mersea, Essex, Ontario. Anne was 54 and had four children at home, along with her mother Mary.

At the time of the 1891 Census of Canada, Anne was 64 and living with Matthew and their 23-year-old daughter Attalia in Mersea, Essex, Ontario. Matthew gives his occupation as farmer and cooper.

At the time of the 1901 Census of Canada, Anne was 74 and living with Matthew in Mersea, Essex, Ontario. Their granddaughter Carry, aged 22, was also living with them. Matthew gives his occupation as "retired".

At the time of the 1911 Census of Canada, Anne was 84, widowed, and living with her married daughter Attillia in the village of Staples, Mersea, Essex South, Ontario.

Anne passed away on February 20, 1913, and is buried in Albuna cemetery, Mersea, Essex, Ontario.
