Isaac was born in 1778 in Washington District now Hamilton, Tennessee, United States. [1] He was the son of William Webb. William Webb died in Rutherford County, North Carolina in 1806. Ursala Caroline Holt was his mother. Isaac passed away in 1832.
Isaac married Mary Polly Blanton, daughter of Obediah Blanton (1778–1850) and Betsey Green (1774–1850). "Isaac and Mary (Polly) Blanton Webb were living in Rutherford County, North Carolina, in December of 1822. That is the earliest date on record that I have been able to find their names. December 29, 1822, my great grandfather, Obediah Webb, was born in Rutherford County, at a place called Webb's Ford. He was the second son of Mary and Isaac Webb. Webb's Ford is not found on a map today. In the days of Isaac and Mary Webb, it was located at a place where the Old Shelby Highway crosses the Second Broad River. It was about five miles south of Forest City."[2] Obediah well could have been named after his maternal grandfather, Obadiah Blanton. Other known children of Isaac Webb were (1) William D., (2) Sarah, who married Smith Richards, (3) Isaac Lawson married Elizabeth Jane Slagle, (4) John, who died young, (5) James P. who is believed to have married Malinda Whiteside, and (6) Jesse, who is believed to have married Nancy Singleton.[3]
Old records indicate that Isaac and Mary Webb were later living in eastern Tennessee. It is believed that Isaac died there at about thirty or so years of age. However the birth dates of his children when compared to his birth date indicate that he was probably 57 years old. There is an Isaac Webb listed in the 1830 census. He was living in Cocke County, Tennessee. there were 3 males under 5, 2 males between 5 and 10 years of age, 1 male between 40 and 50 years of age, 1 female under 5, and 1 female between 30 and 40 years old. [4] We find Mary on the census records in McDowell County in 1850. It is believed that she moved there with her family after the death of her husband. [5]Historical documents state that she was later living back in Tennessee. It is believed that she spent the Civil War years in Tennessee with her son, Isaac Lawson Webb. She may have been living there when she died.
