George Webb was born in about 1838 in Eccleston, St Helens, Lancashire. He was the son of James Webb and Fanny (Berry) Webb. His birth was registered in the first quarter of 1838, in Prescot district.

By June 6th 1841, they were living in Liverpool Road, Eccleston. George's father was a tailor.

By March 30th 1851, George was working as a watch movement maker. He and his parents were lodging with Thomas Webb - probably George's paternal uncle - in Liverpool Road, Eccleston. George's father was a tailor.

By April 7th 1861, George was living with his parents at 67 Brook Street, St Helens, and working as a watch movement maker. His father was a tailor. His maternal uncle Allen Berry was living with them.

By April 2nd 1871, George was living with his parents in Windle, St Helens, Lancashire, and working as a watchmaker. His father was a tailor.

George married Ellen (Booth) Nevett in 1873 at St Helens Parish Church.

George died on 28 Feb 1919, and was buried on 5 Mar 1919 in St Helens Cemetery. His age was recorded as 80.
