He married Ann Hunt Smith on 8 February 1803 in Granville County, North Carolina.[2]
In the 1820 census James and Ann were living in Person County, North Carolina, with six sons and one daughter. They were enslaving 17 people ranging in age from under 10 to over 45 years old.[3]
James Webb died 3 August 1827.[1][4] His will appointed his wife Ann Hunt (Smith) Webb and oldest son Alexander Smith Webb executors of his estate, and was recorded in the September 1827 term in Person County, North Carolina.[5] His estate inventory was written at some point in 1827.[6]
