Biography

Mary Webbe//Webb dau of Josiah Webbe supposedly born 1724 New River Nevis, West Indies and she died 24 Jan 1752-3 West Indies in her twenty-ninth year. [1].

Walter Nisbet married in 1743 to Mary Webbe daughter of Josiah Webbe of New River, Nevis. Emigrated to Nevis, West Indies, and bought the estate of Mount Pleasant; was on the Council of Nevis 1759-65; [2] .

  • Josiah Nisbet 7 Aug 1747 [5] graduated M.D. (Edin.) 12 September 1768, practised in Nevis; married at St. John's, Nevis, 28 June 1779 Frances Herbert, daughter of William Woolward, senior judge of Nevis. He died at Stratford-sub-Castle, near Salisbury, 5 October 1781. [6] His widow married 11 March 1789 Captain Horatio Nelson, R.N. (Lord Nelson), and died at Harley Street, London, 4 May 1831, aged 70. Dr. Josiah Nisbet had an only son—
  • James Nisbet 23 Aug 1749 died unmarried
  • Mary Nisbet 4 Feb 1752 d 22 Feb 1830 near Edinburgh. Mary Aemelia Nisbet married at Castlesteads, near Dalkeith; 17 July.1773, to James Lockhart of Castlehill [7] and Cambusnethan House Lanarkshire; with issue one son and four daughters [8] He died at Cambusnethan House 5 -July 1808. [9] She died at Portobello, near Edinburgh 22 February 1830 [10]
