Ida was born in 1874 to parents George E. Webber and Sarah Anne (Lord) Webber.
As a teenager, she traveled with her family to South Africa. Her father was a mining engineer, and was president of the Rand Mining Company. George Bentley Poore, also an engineer, was in his employ, and married his daughter, Ida May Webber in 1898 in Johannesburg.[1] Mr. Poore was from Scranton, Pennsylvania but was born in Montrose, Pennsylvania.[2]
Ida May and George Poore had two children : George Bentley Poore, Jr., b. 12 Dec 1900 in Cape Town, South Africa;[2] and Priscilla M. Poore, born in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The 1810 census[3] the family had returned from south Africa and was staying with George's widowed mother, Priscilla Bentley. Also present in the household was George's sister, Lydia. The children included Priscilla and George. Katherine would have been eight years old.
In the 1920 census, Ida May and George lived in San Rafael, Marin, California with two children: George, 19 and Priscilla, 21.[4]
Ida May passed away in 1955 in Livermore, Alameda, California, having spent 28 years in hospital in that town.
