Biography

Carlyle H. "Spence" Weber was born on May 1, 1915 to Myrtle McElroy and George Weber in Corry, Erie, Pennsylvania. When he was two, his mother died of pulmonary tuberculosis, and he and his younger sister, Jean, were raised by Edith Fox, his mother's sister, and her husband, Theodore Fox. His uncle, Theodore was employed as a yardmaster for the railroad. ^{[1] [2]}

In 1940, Carlyle was one of four lodgers in the home of Mary Johnson in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York. He was employed as a timekeeper. ^[3]

On March 22, 1941, Carlyle married Audrey Jean Heron, known as Jean, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York. They had a son and two daughters.

On June 10, 1943, Carlyle enlisted in the United States Army in Buffalo, Erie, New York. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the rank of Corporal, from 1943 until 1945. ^[4]

Carlyle worked for 43 years at Dresser Clark Co. in Olean, New York in the production control office. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council, #338 of Olean and a life member of Olean American Legion Post #530. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Carlyle Weber died December 24, 2009 and was buried in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, Cattaraugus, New York with his wife, Jean who died in 2005. ^{[5] [6]}
