Biography
The son of William Webster and his second wife, believed to have been Anna (Case) Webster, Hezekiah Webster was born in Windsor, Connecticut[citation needed] in 1766. He was baptized on March 30 of that year.[1]
He married Anna (Goodwin) Webster, the daughter of Morgan Goodwin and Mary Hawley, marrying in West Hartford, Connecticut in 1794[2] and having ten known children together. They resided for a time in Farmington, Connecticut where in 1800, Hezekiah headed a household of four: one male and one female between the age of 26 and 44, and one male and one female under the age of 10, indicating at least one child who died in childhood and is not listed above.[3]
Hezekiah Webster served as a Captain with Sterling's Regiment of the Connecticut during the War of 1812,[4] later being promoted to the rank of Major,[5], while residing in Canton Township, in Hartford County.[6] By 1822, his family had migrated to Sennett Township, New York, in Cayuga County, purchasing land there.[7][8][9][10]
Hezekiah Webster passed away in Sennett, New York[citation needed] at the age of 69[11] and is buried at Old Sennett Cemetery in Sennett, New York.[12]
