Biography

Mary, daughter of Wm Webster & Mary Webster, was born on 17 Jul 1902 in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware, United States.^[1]

In the 1910 census Mary (age 9) was the stepdaughter of George Haberlander in Wilmington Ward 7, New Castle, Delaware, United States.^[2]

Mary wed William Edward McCool Sr (1900-1958) about 1918. They would have several children, including:

• William Edward McCool Jr (1920-2005)
• Helen Josephine (McCool) Bilski Marroni (1922-2000)
• Edna M (McCool) DiSabatino (1924-2012)

In the 1920 census Mary (age 19) was the wife of William E McCool in New Castle, Delaware, United States.^[3]

In the 1930 census Mary (age 28) was the wife of William E McCool in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware, United States.^[4]

Mary and William appear to have separated during the 1930s and then presumably divorced. At some point, Mary became romantically involved with William Francis Slattery (1897-1967). She eventually took his surname, so they presumably married at an unknown date.

Mary and William are believed to have had two additional sons and one daughter together:

• William F Slattery Jr (1935-2002)
• Charles Slattery (1937-2004)
• female Slattery

In the 1940 census, Mary (age 40) was the married head of household a downstairs apartment in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware along with a number of her children.^[5] William (age 43), Boilermaker, was listed as married and living on the second floor. His apartment included two of Mary's children who were born McCool and two of his children born Slattery.^[6]

In the 1950 census Mary (age 49) was the wife of William Slattery in Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware, United States.^[7]

Mary was mentioned on a memorial in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware, United States with a death date of 19 Jul 1985.^[8] Although her gravestone is carved with a birth year of 1900, that does not match her birth certificate.
