• When Lawrence died in 1613 his leases were assumed by his son, Lawrence. In 1616 Cuthbert Clifton came to an agreement with his tenants for the enclosure and improvement of the large tract of Lytham Hawes. This lay across what is now Ansdell and St Anne’s up to the edge of Blackpool Airport It was an area of open grazing land and pasture. By the agreement of 1616 this land was fenced and ditched, turned into fields, and improved in quality, and soon afterwards, a series of farms was founded at intervals across the land. Lawrence Webster’s Moss Edge Farm was the precursor to this enclosure.

On 10 June Lawrence Webster and three other lessees were directed to hire “a keeper”. Additional leases were granted to Lawrence Webster of Lytham, yeoman, in 1631, 1634 and 1642. When Lawrence Webster died in 1663, his “goods Cattells and Credittis” were valued at £276 19s 4d. He had £59 17s 6d, owing to him by fifteen people. In addition, Sir Thomas Clifton owed him £16 19s 2d. There also was a further £87 2s 0d in eleven bonds involving thirteen people. These amounts together with £10 in money, totalled £173 13s 8d or 63 per cent of his personal estate. His executors were his son, James and his brother brother-in-law, Nicholas Sanderson.
