Biography

Juanita was born in 1940. She is the daughter of Addison Weddington and Grace Spencer. She passed away in 2020.

Juanita “Jan” Gilvin, age 79, of Auburn passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler.

She was born on August 17, 1940 in Pomp, Kentucky to Addie and Grace (Spence) Weddington.

Ms. Gilvin worked at the DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn from 1999 until 2009 in the dietary department and at Smith Farms Manor in Auburn from 2009 until 2016 where she served as Evening Manager.

Survivors Include: Son and daughter-in-law; Marshall and Susan Gilvin of Memphis, Tennessee. Son and daughter-in-law; Bill and Lynn Gilvin of Elkhart, Indiana. Son and daughter-in-law; Chris and Dawn Gilvin of Butler, Indiana. Daughter; Tammy Zonker and Trent Thompson of Auburn, Indiana. 9 grandchildren; Jessica Walker, Owen Walker, Riley Zonker, Callie McDougald, Nolan Gilvin, Paige Gilvin, Dakota Moll, Brad Gilvin, and Mary Gilvin. 5 great grandchildren; Hudson McDougald, Kage Walker, Barrett Walker, Elleanah Gilvin and Kayden Morrow. Brother and sister-in-law; Addison Jr. and Lois Weddington of Morrow, Ohio. Brother and sister-in-law; Milton and Dee Weddington of Morrow, Ohio. Brother and sister-in-law; George and Peggy Weddington of West Liberty, Kentucky. Sister and brother-in-law; Ginny and Dan Rosenfeld of Port Orange, Florida.

Preceding her in death are siblings Ella Weddington Engler, Forrest Weddington, Billy Weddington, James Weddington, and Betty Jean Weddington.

Jan’s love of family, work-ethic and level of excellence was evident to all who knew her. Her life can be summarized by a quote from Shakespeare’s Mid-Summer Night’s Dream,“Though she be but little, she is fierce.”

Due to the health concerns about large public gatherings the family has decided to have a memorial service at a later date when the restrictions on public gatherings are lifted.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Eckhart Public Library Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Feller and Clark Funeral Home in Auburn
