Samuel, son of Basil (miner) and Mary Wedge was baptised at Bilston St Leonard on 02 Jan 1831. [1]

At the time of the 1841 Census, 10 year old Samuel and his 11 year old sister Sarah were living with their eldest sister Ann and brother in law John Fieldhouse. The extended household was living at Cold Lanes, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.

At the time of the 1851 Census, Samuel was still living with his by-now remarried sister Ann and brother in law. The large blended family were living at 53 Hallfields, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. Samuel's 16 year old brother Joseph was also in the household. Both Samuel and Joseph were working as miners.[2]

By the time of the 1861 Census, Samuel was lodging in the household of Samuel Heggs, also a miner. The address was Barkers Field, Bilston, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. Samuel's occupation is recorded as miner. [3]

In the 1881 Census, Samuel and Emma were living at Ct 8, 4, Coseley Street, Bilston, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire. Also in the household was Edward Page, b.1859, listed as a nephew. Both Samuel and Edward were working as coal miners[6]

Samuel and Emma were still living in Cosley Street, Bilston, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, at the time of the 1891 Census. Samuel is listed as a 56 year old coal miner. Also in the household was a young boarder. [7]

Samuel has not been identified in following Censii. Perhaps the Samuel Wedge, registered as having died in Wolverhampton in the second quarter of 1893, is this Samuel. [8]
