Private John Weed served with Col. Philip Burr Bradley's Battalion, Wadsworth's Brigade, Continental Army during the American Revolution.

John Weed is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A121473.

John Weed was born 3 Jul 1754 in Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut to parents Caleb Weed and Martha Peck. He married Susanna Mason on 3 Oct 1780 in Litchfield, Connecticut.

While a resident of Litchfield, Litchfield County, Connecticut, he enlisted and served as private and teamster in the Connecticut troops as follows: from January, 1776, three months in Captain Bezaleel Beebe’s company, Colonel Ward’s regiment, and from June, 1776, seven months in Captain Bezaleel Beebe’s Company, Colonel Bradley’s regiment, (two words cannot read) Washington when it was taken and at Trenton when the Hessians were captured; from March, 1777, in Captain Osais Bingham’s company of teamsters was with the army during the battle of Germantown, wintered at Valley Forge, was at Yarmouth, after which he went to Rhode Island, attached to Colonel Angelo’s regiment, entire length of these services, eighteen months; from June, 1779, nine months as private in Captain James Smith’s company, Colonel Matthew Mead’s regiment.

Shortly after the Revolutionary War, the soldier moved to Greene County, New York, where he resided until about 1822, when he moved to Franklin, Delaware County, New York, and remained five years, then moved to Sidney, in said Delaware County.

He was allowed a pension on his application executed 9 Oct 1832, at which time he resided in Sidney, New York.

She was born 20 Mar 1779 in Norwich, New London, CT, and died 18 Nov 1822 in Cairo, Greene, NY. He married Rebecca Wright 1823 in Cairo, Greene, NY, daughter of William Wright and Rebecca Bennet. She was born 16 Dec 1787.
  3. Susan Weed was born 13 Feb 1785. She married ___ Carter Nov 1809.
  4. John Weed Jr. was born 1 Feb 1787.
  5. John Weed was born 25 Sep 1789, and died 1 Apr 1873. He married Merribal Hodge. She was born about 1785, and died 7 Feb 1878.
  6. Jesse Weed was born 20 Dec 1791 in Cairo, Greene, NY, and died 6 Oct 1848. He married Catherine Christen 5 Jan 1815. She was born 29 Oct 1794 in NY, and died 5 Jan 1834.

  9. Rachel Weed was born 7 Sep 1797 in Cairo, Greene, NY, and died 3 May 1838. She married John Adams 21 Nov 1821. He was born 17 Jun 1796 in Groton, Middlesex, CT, and died 2 Jun 1851.

  11. William Brown Weed was born 20 Feb 1801, and died 30 Aug 1894. He married Mary Chamberlain 11 Jan 1820, daughter of Benjamin Chamberlain and Rebecca Blish. She was born 10 Sep 1800 in Mulberry, CT, and died 30 Aug 1874.

I can see one item. It shows John Weed Age 36 of Connecticut, yeoman, whereas Ancestor #: A121473 The DAR application shows a birthdate of July 3, 1854 which does not match date of birth on the DAR application.
